Overview

The Lubumbashi Palace of Justice is a judicial building located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It sought a minimalist and modern signage system with a formal design language to reflect the authority and dignity of the judicial environment. LC Sign provided a complete Court Project Signages & Wayfinding System, covering 10 types of courthouse signage through a full-service approach from design to delivery, seamlessly integrating with the building’s architectural style.

Challenges

The Lubumbashi Palace of Justice signage project presented challenges in managing complex information, production requirements, and tight deadlines.

• Complex Wayfinding Information Management: The design process required careful consideration of complex wayfinding requirements across multiple areas and functions, including the coordination of traffic flows, signage categories, and information connections and user accessibility.

Process

LC Sign followed a structured process for the Lubumbashi Palace of Justice project, from signage planning and design to fabrication and delivery.

Phase 1: Signage Layout Analysis & Planning

Based on the client-provided maps of outdoor areas and 3 interior floors, LC Sign analyzed pedestrian circulation and signage requirements, including mounting methods and electrical considerations, to develop a comprehensive signage system, ensuring clear wayfinding and seamless integration with the building environment.

Phase 2: Signage System Design

LC Sign presented three reference designs from similar architectural projects for the client’s evaluation. Based on the selected design style, LC Sign developed the signage system with a clean sans-serif font style, enhancing readability and accessibility for users of all ages while aligning the overall design with the courthouse’s formal environment.

Phase 3: Signage Engineering & Fabrication

Based on the signage design and environmental compatibility, LC Sign selected suitable materials and fabrication details. The signs were then manufactured to achieve consistent quality and reliable results.

Phase 4: Quality Control & Assembly

Quality inspections ensured accurate production and consistent appearance. Each sign was prepared with suitable mounting hardware, including adhesive mounting, screw fixing, and threaded rod solutions, for easier installation.

Phase 5: Packaging & Delivery

LC Sign applied tailored packaging methods for different signage components to ensure product protection during transportation. Effective shipment coordination enabled safe and efficient project delivery.
